Journeys with my Grandfather

Holding my grandfather’s hand, trying to keep up with his long striding legs. Tree stumps, native grass, tiny colourful flowers whizzing past as we made our way through the bush.

My understanding of the rocks, trees and small scuttling creatures came from these moments.

My grandmother was a botanist and taught me the names, but my grandfather just loved to be there, walking in the bush. My grandfather spent much of his spare time travelling to the Blue Mountains and walking the numerous and beautiful tracks and trails. He took many photographs on his visits and documented the locations. It is this material that gives me an otherwise unknown perspective of my grandfather’s journeys in the place that I now call home.
